Yogi’s have been sharing their knowledge and teachings of meditation for thousands of years. It’s only in the last few decades, however, that the West has truly embraced this practice — for the benefits it brings to our Mind, Body and Spirit. Even more recently, the scientific community has been studying and validating what Eastern teachings have known for centuries – that meditation can improve our health and energy, support our psychological well-being, decrease our stress levels, improve our creativity, and promote a life of abundance and inner joy. Here’s a selection of research articles that scientifically-validate the spiritual practice of meditation:

Meditation Improves Our Health

It increases our immune function (1, 2), and decreases our pain experience (3).

Meditation Elevates Our Joy

Increases our positive emotions (4, 5), decreases stress (6, 7), reduces symptoms of depression (8), and decreases anxiety (9, 10, 11). Meditation also improves our ability to regulate our emotions (12).

Meditation Makes Us More Productive

It improves our memory (13), and increases our ability to focus & pay attention (14, 15, 16, 17).

Meditation Improves Our Social Engagement

Improves our social life and connection with others by making us more loving and kind (18), it makes us more compassionate (19), and makes us feel less lonely (20).

Meditation has been a wonderful gift to me and one that I practice often. It helps keep me centered, supports my psychological well-being, and has elevated my spiritual awareness.

Do you meditate? What benefits have you found by practicing meditation? Please share your thoughts, I’d love to hear them.
